The following physics topics have been used by my grade 11 and 12 physics classes for inquiry labs:
  • Projectile motion
  • Elastic/inelastic collisions
  • Conservation of momentum
  • Accelerated motion with friction
  • Electromagnetism (including motor principle, forces, indiction and DC motors)
  • Sound:   resonance in open and closed tubes
  • Thermal energy (specific heat capacity, thermal conductivity, latent heats)
  • Interference effects of light
  • Conservation of mechanical energy

The following physics topics have been used by my grade 10 science classes for inquiry labs: *
  • Investigating accelerated motion
  • Investigating environmental factors affecting population growth (using yeast)

    * NOTE:   This is the first year I have taught grade 10 science (SNC 2D1) so my "repertoire" of inquiry labs for this group is short.   Next time I teach grade 10 science, I will select topics from the Chemistry and Weather units for the students' inquiry labs.
